Lucena’s biggest pawn shop robbed
LUCENA CITY— Three unidentified pistol-wielding men robbed the biggest pawnshop situated along one of the city’s most busy streets taking away still undetermined amount of jewelries, early yesterday.
No one was reported harmed during the heist.
Police said the robbers swooped down at Raquel Pawnshop, owned by Reynaldo Raquel and disarmed security guard Edgardo Maquiling with his revolver at exactly 8:45 a.m.
They said all the jewelries displayed at the glass counter were taken by the robbers before they fleeing on foot.
It was learned that the pawnshop opened at 8:00 a.m.
In a text message, newly installed OIC city police head, Supt. Sergio Vivar said they are conducting deeper investigation on the case and his men in the field are now on follow up operation. He said the amount of loss items is yet to be determined by the pawnshop owner.
Only last July 26, a group of heavily armed men robbed the armored van of United Coconut Palanters Bank situated in front of the city Cathedral leaving three bank security guards dead.
The robbers who reportedly took a big duffle bag from the vancontaining P3 Million fled using a get away vehicle.
Probers retrieved after the incident 32 bullet shells for AK- 47 rifle, M-16 Armalite rifle and M-14 rifle and cal. 45 pistol.
The case is still unsolved but police said they already have leads and that they are not sleeping on the case.
The daring incident caused the relief of the then police chief who was replaced by Vivar.
