“They have to be removed. I think… Well, the President has already created an interagency body, you know, and this is led by Secretary (Jesse) Robredo. I have identified a little over, if I’m not mistaken, about 125,000 families on waterways alone in Metro Manila and about 60,000 to 70,000 in waterways around Laguna Lake na dapat wala doon. Now, obviously that needs very strong political will to be able to address that,” anito sabay sabing “As I said, ano, may mga batas na tayo diyan—required easements out of…within waterways, ano. Dapat wala sila doon, ano, so this will have to be addressed.”

“I just received instructions from the President that [if] push comes to shove, we will have to blast ‘yung mga kabahayan doon kung hindi pa sila aalis within a certain period. And we just continue to meet with the LGUs that I think it has come to a point that we will have to set a deadline when they should be taken out. If not… If you recall, this happened sometime years back during the time of President Ramos. Talagang they brought in the military to blast all of the illegal fish pens doon sa waterways,” ang pahayag ng Kalihim.

“Well, we’re part of the NDRRMC, ano. So pagkaganyan naman nagmo-mobilize kaagad kami to make sure that all “of our national roads and bridges are passable.
