Robredo tinawag na ‘champion of the poor’ sa requiem Mass

BINIGYAN ng standing ovation ang namayapang si Interior Secretary Jesse Robredo at tinanghal pa bilang ‘champion of the poor’ sa ginanap na requiem Mass para sa kanyang kadakilaan sa Naga City kaninang umaga (Agosto 28).

Ikinumpara ni Fr. Kulandairaj Ambrose ng Fr. Kulandairaj Ambrose of the Missionaries of the Poor si Robredo kay Sen.

“Today, another great Filipino, Sec. Jesse Robredo, has shown by his life and death that every Filipino is worth dying for to this great man, let us show our appreciation as we stand and put our hands together,” pahayag ni Ambrose sa kanyang homily.

“In death as in life, Sec. Jesse is a man of the ordinary people. I am humbled and honored to do this for a friend, a great man, and a champion of the poor,” dagdag pa nito.

“The winds were howling and roofs flying and trees falling. I was shocked when mayor’s car drove into our center. Mayor Jesse came to find out if everyone was safe,” pahayag ni Ambose.

“I couldn’t believe he would risk his own life to make sure the poor were safe and well. I later found out this was something Mayor Jesse did every time there was a typhoon,” pahayag nito.

“He felt comfortable with us and we felt comfortable with him maybe because we wear sandals. (You could call it) tsinelas friendship,” dagdag pa nito.

“He was a man of the masses, the real Pinoy Big Brother to the countless nameless and faceless persons who make up the bulk of our society.”
