Casiño to PNoy: I’m not here to pick a fight but to set the record straight
PARTY list Rep. Teddy Casiño (Bayan Muna) today stressed that he is not picking a fight with Pres. Benigno Simeon Aquino III but just setting the record straight.
“Pres. Aquino should ask Department of Justice Sec. Leila de Lima on how ardent we were in finding justice for human rights violations victims during her time as the chair of the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) and now as DOJ secretary. But the previous and even current administration has the habit of coddling violators and even promoting them to higher ranks,” said Casiño.
Suay, Himamaylan City noong 2010. Bayles was an active member of National Federation of Sugar Workers (NFSW) and a Bayan Muna leader. He is also a lay leader of Iglesia Filipina Independiente. The Adjutant General attended the hearing for the Bayles case for the first time last Oct 25 at the Himamaylan RTC and confirmed the identities of the two soldiers. But this would not have happened if we were not aggressive in pursuing the case. Ganun din ang kaso kay Jonas Burgos at napromote pa nga ang sinasabing mga dumukot sa kanya,” he said.
“This is our situation when it comes to human rights cases. Concerned friends are advising me to let it pass and let the President have his way because they are saying that it is political suicide to go against the most powerful man in the land. But if I shut up, who among my fellow senatorial candidates will speak up? They all want to be on the President’s good side!” the solon said.
