Casiño vows to give voters a ‘real choice’ in 2013
ON the eve of the filing of his candidacy, party list Rep. Teddy Casiño (Bayan Muna) vowed to give voters in 2013 “a real choice” in the 2013 senatorial elections.
“Sa panahon ngayon na ang mga tumatakbo eh puro incumbent o returning senator, mga anak, kapatid at kamag-anak nila, o mga talunan sa dating eleksyon, importanteng may iba namang pagpilian ang tao,” said the progressive solon.
“Unfortunately, the line-ups of the two biggest coalitions give us little choice. It is the same names and faces that we see. The same people who have dominated Philippine politics for decades,” he said.
“Aside from being the voice of the common tao in the Senate, my candidacy is a challenge to the political cartels that control power in the country. I have always been against cartels – in the oil and power industry, rice and telecoms. In a sense, we are now taking the struggle to a different dimension,” said Casiño.
“Kaya naman din inihain natin ang Anti-political Dynasties bill (House Bill 3413) sa Kongreso pero siyempre ito ay inuupuan,” he added.
“I hope that our countrymen help me in reclaiming the Senate for them. It is their office and not just for the few. It is their voice that has to be heard in its chambers,” said Casiño.
Casiño will literally run tomorrow, October 3, at around 8am from the Tamaraw statue in Luneta to the Commission on Election (COMELEC) office in Intramuros to file his senatorial bid. Running alongside him will be hundreds of his supporters from all walks of life.
