CARSON, California — Mismong ang kampo na ni dating  Japanese champion Toshiaki Nishioka ang nag-anunsyo na tapos na ang pagboboksing nito.

Kasunod ito ng masaklap na pagkatalo nito kay IBF/WBO champion Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire, ayon sa  coach nitong Akihiko Honda na panahon na rin para magpahinga na ang kanyang alaga sa pakikipagsuntukan sa ibabaw ng boxing ring.

“This is the end. He put himself on the line. He knows (it’s over) and I think he would have called it quits even if he had won.”

Hanggang ngayon aminado ang 36-anyos na si Nishioka na maging ang kanyang sarili ay nadismaya sa kanyang performance kahapon.

Hindi rin aniya nito inaasahan na ganoon kabilis at kalakas ang mga suntok ni Donaire.

“I’m disappointed.. I was cautious at the start and wanted to be more aggressive from the middle of the bout. I knew I was behind on points (in the ninth) and just had to go for it. I did everything I could,” ayon sa boksingero.

Nagsimula ang pro-debut ni Nishioka noong 1994 matapos masungkit ang WBC super bantamweight title. Noong Oktubre 2011, muli nitong naidepensa sa ika-pitong pagkakataon ang korona sa No. 2 ranked na si Rafael Marquez ng Mexico.
