Killer of Bacolod City based lawyer, also killed by hired assassins – PNP
THE gunman in the killing of a lawyer in Bacolod City over the weekend was also killed by another set of hired assassins in a remote village in the same city late Sunday, a police official said Monday.
Western Visayas police director, Chief Supt. Agrimero Cruz Jr., said Monday that this was the breakthrough made by the Bacoldo City police in their investigation in the killing of lawyer, Jhonny Chua, 63.
Chua, was shot and killed by an unidentified gunman Saturday evening while he was on board an SUV driven by his son, Brent Andrew Chua, along Burgos St., Brgy. 19 in Bacolod City.
The police official said that Chua’s gunman, identified by witnesses as Reymund Longno alias small boy, was also killed by two men wearing ski-mask Sunday night in Brgy. Villamonte also in Bacolod City.
“Longno was positively identified by several witnesses, including Chua’s son, Brent Andrew, as the man who shot his father while they were onboard their vehicle,” Cruz said in a text message.
The police official said that Longno died from multiple-gunshot wounds he sustained when he was attacked by two ski-mask wearing suspects Sunday night in Brgy. Villamonte.
“Slain gunman Reymund Longno is facing gun for hire related cases and other varied crimes. Investigators are now trying to identify the driver of motorcycle used as getaway vehicle after Chua’s killing,” Cruz said.
The police official said that investigators from Bacolod City police office are eyeing business as the possible angle o motive for the killing of Chua with somebody financing his killed and that of his gunman.
