Kris Aquino, Akbayan’s biggest contributor
AKBAYAN Citizens’ Action Party received P100 Million in campaign contributions for the 2010 national elections.
Of this amount, P14, 000, 000. 00 came from three of President Benigno Aquino’s sisters.
Based on the statement of election contributions and expenditures filed by Akbayan, it received a total of P112, 183,000.00 from February 9 to May 8, 2010.
P5, 250, 000 of it came from other political party organizations, while 106, 933,000 came from other persons.
Kristina Bernadette Aquino-Yap was listed to be its biggest contributor, giving P10, 000, 000.
Maria Elena “Ballsy” Aquino Cruz gave P2, 000, 000.00
Victoria Aquino-Dee gave P 2,000,000.00.
Their family friend Margarita Juico, now chairman of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, gave P1, 000, 000.00.
Current Anti-poverty Commission chair Jose Eliseo Rocamora contributed P1, 000, 000.00 while current Akbayan rep. Walden bello contributed some P1.4 M.
Based on their statement of campaign expenditures, Akbayan spent 69, 440, 770 on advertisements in ABS-CBN, GMA NETWORK, ABC 5 AND TAPE, INC.
Their total expenditures was at P112, 174,008.70.
Akbayan’s party list accreditation as a representative of various marginalized sectors is now under review by the Comelec.
It is facing a letter opposition from Anakbayan and a formal disqualification case from Kontra Daya on the ground that it no longer represents a marginalized sector.
