Ofel batters Visayas, Mindanao; Boracay bound tourists stranded in Aklan
MORE than thousand passengers and tourist have been stranded in various ports in Western Visayas region as ‘Tropical Storm Ofel’ battered Visyas and Mindanao Thursday, a police reports said.
Western Visayas police director, Chief Supt. Agrimero Cruz Jr., that no damage or casualties have been monitored so far despite the onslaught of Tropical Storm Ofel in central part of the country.
Cruz said at least 500 passengers and tourists bound for Boracay, a popular tourist destination in the region, have been stranded at the jetty port of Malay, Aklan.
The police official said that another 100 passengers of a Ro-Ro vessel bound for Mindoro were stranded in Caticlan, Aklan.
While in Bacolod City, another 1000 passengers have been stranded at Bredco Port due to Tropical Storm Ofel, the police official said.
