3 Zambo policemen dismissed for use of illegal drugs
THREE policemen in the Western Mindanao region have been dismissed for illegal drug use and six others are being investigated for involved in drug related acts, a senior police officials said Tuesday.
Western Mindanao Police director, Chief Supt. Napoleon Estilles said that the three policemen dismissed for illegal drug used were all assigned at Siocon Municipal Police station in Zamboanga del Norte.
Estilles said that he had directed the discharged of the three policemen, whose identities were withheld, from their duties in Siocon Municipal Police station after they have been proved positive for the use of illegal drugs.
The police official also directed the relief of Senior Inspector Khisna Asa-Aali, the police chief of said police station whose personnel will need to undergo a back to basic re-training course at the regional headquarters in Zamboanga City.
The discovery of drug using policemen came after the Western Mindanao police office received persistent reports that some policemen were using or hook into the use of illegal drugs at said police station.
The police official said that he instructed the station commander to conduct an investigation and dish out sanctions against police personnel that would be found positive for use of illegal drugs.
The said order was not immediately acted that prompted Estilles to form a special investigation team from the regional headquarters to conduct a surprise inspection and random drug test of personnel of the said police station.
Estilles, earlier ordered the dismissal from police service of six erring policemen after they were found guilty of the administrative charges that were lodged against them due to misconduct.
