Bacolod City’s most wanted nabbed
THE Bacolod City most wanted person was arrested accidentally by the police Sunday following a shooting incident in the said city where he was not the primary suspect, police reports said Monday.
Western Visayas Police director, Chief Supt. Agrimero Cruz Jr., identified the wanted person accidentally arrested by the police in Bacolod City as Ariel dela Cruz, 32, who uses the alias Ruel Rotas.
The police official said Dela Cruz, who is wanted for rape and murders of minors, was nabbed by policemen Sunday morning at the north bound terminal, Brgy. Banago in Bacolod City.
Prior to his arrest, policemen responding to a shooting incident at the terminal where a certain Pablo Portillo, 39, of Victorias City, was shot and killed by a certain Renanter Francisco from Talisay City.
The police official said Dela Cruz, who was armed with a homemade shotgun, was also at the scene, when he attempted to shoot the responding policemen prompting one of the lawmen to shot him.
When arrested, Dela Cruz introduced himself as Ruel Rotas, but investigation later discovered his true identity as the city’s most wanted person with warrant of arrest for rape and murder, Cruz said.
