College player scores 138 in single game

JACK TAYLOR of Grinnell College shattered the single-game scoring record in college hoops at any level Tuesday night (Wednesday in Manila) by scoring 138 points in his team’s 179-104 rout of Faith Baptist Bible.

His effort eclipsed the Division I record 100 points set by Furman’s Frank Selvy against Newberry College in 1954 or the 113 points Rio Grande’s Clarence “Bevo” Francis scored against Hillsdale College the same season.

The 5-foot-10 sophomore made 52-of-108 from the field, including 25-of-37 from inside the arc and 27-of-71 3-pointers. He also hit 7-of-10 free throws.

Entering the game, Taylor is averaging an impressive 23.5 points in 13.5 minutes. Noli Cruz
