Early Christmas for cops
CHRISTMAS comes early for policemen after the Philippine National Police (PNP) on Wednesday announces that it will now release the remaining of 2012 year-end bonus of police personnel.
PNP chief, Director General Nicanor Bartolome said that the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has approved earlier the allocation of P1.932 billion as payment for year end bonus of police personnel.
The PNP chief said that the year end bonuses for policemen represents 50 percent of the 13th Month pay and other cash benefits for all government workers as mandated by the law.
The first tranche of this year’s 13th month was released by the PNP in May 2012 in time for opening of classes, the PNP chief said.
But, the PNP chief said that the police personnel that has pending administrative and criminal cases won’t be getting the bonus.
“As a disciplinary policy, release of the 13th month pay to PNP personnel with pending administrative and criminal cases is deferred,” Bartolome said in a statement.
