Leonen oks lang wala sa GPH-MILF peace panel

TANGGAP ng Malakanyang kung mawawala si GPH-MILF peace panel chief negotiator Dean Marvic Leonen sa negotiating panel na nakikipag-usap sa Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).

Ito’y matapos mapasama ang pangalan ni Leonen sa Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) list na pagpipilian para maging Supreme Court Associate Justice.

“We’re in the realm of speculation here. But we’ve always maintained that nobody’s indispensable in government. And certainly we’ve already said that Dean Marvic Leonen is the face of the negotiating panel but, remember, we have five members of the negotiating panel—I think five or six—all of them are competent to negotiate with the MILF. They are all knowledgeable about the issues governing the GPH-MILF talks. But, again, we’re discussing things hypothetically. You’re also discussing on a hypothetical basis if the case is brought before the Supreme Court. And, so far, none has been raised before the Supreme Court. The Framework Agreement has been there for some time now, so let’s wait and see,” ang pahayag ni Presidential spokesman Edwin Lacierda.

Sa ngayon ay hindi pa nagkikita at nagkakausap sina Pangulong Aquino at Dean Leonen hinggil sa bagay na ito.

Kararating lamang aniya ng Pangulong Aquino mula sa Laos kaya wala pang iskedyul ng pag-uusap ng dalawa.

Nakasalalay naman sa magiging desisyon ni Pangulong Aquino kung papayagan pang tapusin ni Dean Leonen ang peace process o hanggang sa comprehensive compact ay malagdaan bago pa maupo sa posisyong posibleng mapasakanya.
