Nov. 15 is PEN’s Int’l Day of imprisoned writer
THE Philippine PEN Writers in Prison Committee is hosting a writers’ forum and gathering this coming November 15 to mark the Day of the Imprisoned Writer.
The forum willl be held from 1:30 to 3:30 in the afternoon at the University of the Philippines – Manila, College of Arts and Sciences Little Theater, Padre Faura, Manila.
The November 15 Day of the Imprisoned Writer is an annual, international day intended to recognize and support writers who resist repression of the basic human right to freedom of expression.
PEN Centers all over the world will highlight cases of imprisoned writers, including that of Filipino poet Ericson Acosta, who has been unjustly detained for more than a year now.
The forum will also feature a preview of “Chained Metaphors,” a documentary on Acosta and other imprisoned artists in the Philippines.
