One dead, two injured as dump truck hit a motorcycle
A money lending collector was killed on the spot and two others were injured after a dump truck rammed a motorcycle Tuesday morning in Surigao City, police reports said on Wednesday.
Reports reaching the PNP central operations center in Camp Crame on Wednesday identified the fatality in the incident as Kivin Aporbo Ramirez, 21 and a resident of Socorro, Surigao del Norte.
While those injured were identified as Jose Espinosa Losada, 52 farmer and Gena Maglinte Losada, 42 years old, businesswoman and both are resident of Socorro, Surigao del Norte, reports said.
The reports said the three were on board motorcycle (7976), driven by Ramirez, heading north along the national highway in Brgy. Bonifacio, Surigao City when they were hit by a when they were by a dump truck (YJR-921) at around 11:50am Tuesday.
Investigation revealed that the truck, driven by Raymund Dejano Boholst, 32 of Surigao City, overtook another vehicle at the curve portion of the road and swerved to the opposite lane before hitting the motorcycle, the reports said.
The reports added that due to strong impact, Ramirez died on the spot while his two passengers were taken by responding rescue team of Surigao City to the Caraga Regional Hospital for treatment.
The driver of the truck surrendered voluntarily to the Surigao City Police station while both vehicles were impounded for investigation and proper disposition, the reports said.
