Police kills six suspected gun for hire members in Calamba
SIX suspected members of a gun for hire group were reportedly killed in an encounter Monday morning with the law enforcers in a remote village in Calamba, Laguna, police reports said.
Initial reports reaching the PNP operations center in Camp Crame said that the encounter between police and gun for hire group took place at around 8:30am Monday at Brgy. Lecheria, Calamba, Laguna.
Southern Tagalog Police director, Chief Supt. James Melad said in the reports that five of the suspects were killed on the spot while one suspect was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
The police official said that the gun for hire group, which is operating in the region, had been under surveillance by the police for weeks prior to the encounter in Calamba Monday morning.
Police also recovered from the encounter site several high powered firearms such an M16 rifle, handgun and a brown Toyota Innova AUV (TDI-214) being used by the suspects, the reports said.
The reports said that elements of the PNP’s Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) have been dispatched in the area to conduct forensic investigation to determine the identities of the slain suspects.
