Woman dies after a motorcycle was hit by an ambulance in Butuan City
A middle-age woman was killed and a man was injured after a motorcycle was bumped by a speeding ambulance over the weekend along a busy highway in Butuan City, police reports said on Tuesday.
Belated reports reaching the PNP operations center in Camp Crame identified the fatality in the collision as Edna Magbanua, married of legal age and resident of Upper Doongan, Butuan City.
The reports said the occurred Saturday afternoon at the intersection of j Rosales and J.C. Aquino Ave., in Butuan City when a motorcycle, driven by Rogelio Salazar, 57, was bumped by a speeding ambulance, driven by Larry Ronato.
The ambulance was reportedly carrying a patient from Butuan Medical and was heading for Cagayan de Oro City when the said incident occurred, reports said.
The reports said that Salazar and Magbanua, who were severely injured, where brought to the nearest hospital for treatment, but the woman was later declared dead by attending physicians.
The ambulance driver voluntarily surrendered and now in the custody of the Butuan City police station while appropriate charges are being readied against him.
