Ambush kills three in Tagkawayan, Quezon
THREE people were reportedly killed, one policeman was wounded and one suspect was arrested in an ambush incident Monday morning along a highway in Tagkawayan, Quezon province, police reports said.
Initial reports reaching the PNP central operations center in Camp Crame identified the three fatalities in the said ambush incident as Jamela Custodio, Jasmine Pablo and Melvin Marquez.
In the report, Tagkawayan chief of police, Chief Inspector William Angway, said the ambush took place at around 8am along the national highway at Brgy. Sta. Monica of said municipality.
The reports said that the victims were onboard their vehicle and on their way to Bicol when they were fired upon by a group of armed men killing Custodio and Marquez on the spot while Pablo was declared dead on arrival at a hospital.
The said incident was immediately reported to elements of the Highway Patrol Group (HPG) resulting to a shootout and wounding of one policeman, PO1 Michael Cabato who is now being treated at a hospital in Calauag, Quezon.
While one suspect identified as Rafael Moreno of Mabini, Batangas, was arrested at a police checkpoint in Calauag. A caliber 45 pistol, magazine and various type of ID were seized from him.
The police official said that Moreno is now being interrogated to determine the identities of the other suspects and motive behind in the ambush.
