“They booked their own tickets, you know, even as far away as Korea. The flight to Davao has (a) group of Koreans who were just all volunteers. I was talking to them <but> we couldn’t understand each other because they didn’t understand English and yet they were so decided to go and help,” anito.

“And it’s not just now, it’s not just up ‘til Christmas po ha. We need to rebuild people’s lives and rebuilding people’s lives is going to be a lot more challenging than just providing relief. Some people have lost everything they have. They’ve lost their families, their houses, and we’ve lost whole communities—literally gone under mud or gone underwater. So I think this is really a good time for us to come together and help,” anito.
