Elderly killed in motorcycle collision in Surigao del Sur
AN elderly woman was killed following a collision between two motorcycles last Tuesday along the national highway in from of campus in a remote village in Cantilan, Surigao del Sur, police reports said Thursday.
Reports at the PNP operations center in Camp Crame identified the victim of the collision as Rosalinda Luga Malikse, 58 yrs old and resident of Purok-5, Brgy. San Pedro, Cantilan.
The reports said that the collision between two motorcycles occurred at around 3pm on Christmas Day along the highway in front of the main campus of the Surigao del Sur State University in Brgy. Pag-antayan, Cantilan.
Investigation revealed that the victim was backriding on motorcycle driven by her husband, Felipe Maliksi, 62 and was turning left at the said place when it was bumped by another motorcycle driven by Jessie Cubillas, reports said.
The reports said that due to the strong impact of the collision, both motorcycles crashed on the cemented road while Rosalinda Malikse was thrown off with her head landing first.
Rosalinda Malikse was then immediately rushed by her relatives to Madrid District Hospital for treatment but pronounced dead on arrival by the attending physician, the reports said.
The reports said that Cubillas was temporarily detained at Cantilan Municipal Police Station while a charge of Reckless Imprudence Resulting in Homicide was filed against him before the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office.
