LGU employee nabbed for illegal drugs in Surigao del Sur
A local government employee was busted by the authorities for possession of illegal drugs Wednesday evening in a remote village in Tago, Surigao del Sur, police reports said on Saturday.
Belated reports sent to Camp Crame by the Caraga regionl police office identified the arrested drug suspect as Joseph Acevedo Portillo, 39, single and a local government employee in the said province.
The reports said Portillo was arrested Wednesday after joint elements of the Tago Municipal Police and Provincial Intelligence swooped down on his residence at Purok Grapes, Brgy. Purisima of said town.
The operation the reports said were conducted by the authorities’ base on a search warrant issued by Judge Rufo Nagaras of Regional Trial Court Branch 40 in Tandag City, Surigao del Sur.
Seized from Portillo’s possession were one sachet of ‘shabu’, a Nokia cellphone, a roll of aluminum foil, a matchbox with used foil and empty sachet, a black plastic box with illegal drugs paraphernalia and 13 sachets of shabu residue and two lighters, reports said.
The reports said that the suspects and confiscated items are now in the custody of Tago Municipal police station for proper disposition.
