Policemen kills five carjackers in Gerona, Tarlac
ALERT policemen have killed five still unidentified members of a Cordillera based carjacking group during an encounter early dawn Sunday in a remote village in Gerona, Tarlac, police reports said Monday.
Reports reaching the PNP operations center in Camp Crame said that the encounter between lawmen and carjackers occurred at around 4am Sunday at a farm in Brgy. Danzo, Gerona, Tarlac.
The said encounter in Gerona took place after Baguio City Police office sent out flash alarm to all nearby police stations over a reported carnapping incident perpetrated by five suspects in the said city.
The flash alarm sent out by the Baguio City police said the five suspects carjacked Saturday night a Toyota Innova Van (NDO-933) driven by a certain Roldan Ymson, 67 and fled towards south.
The reports said that on early dawn Sunday Gerona Municipal Police station received reports of suspicious looking men who had reportedly forced open the gates of a farm in Brgy. Danzo.
Gerona Police chief, Supt. Ponciano Zafra, ordered a dispatched a police team to Brgy. Danzo to check and verify the reported presence of suspicious looking armed men in the said farm, the reports said.
The reports said that instead of yielding the police, the suspects opened fire triggering a brief exchange of fire that resulted to killing of the five suspects, four male and one female.
Zafra said in the reports that investigation are now underway to determine the identities and affiliation of the five slain suspects who were all believed to be natives of Kalinga province.
The reports added that Gerona Police recovered from the slain suspects were two 45 caliber pistols; tow caliber 38 revolvers an MKII fragmentation grenade that the suspects tried to detonate.
A few hours after the encounter in Gerona, the body of carjacking victim, Roldan Tmson, was recovered by local police in Pozzorubio, Pangasinan, the reports said.
