Village chairman killed in gun attack in Agusan del Sur
A village chairman was shot to death by still unidentified gunman late Saturday afternoon in a remote village in Agusan del Sur, police reports said Sunday.
Reports at the police operations center in Camp Crame identified the victim as Eduardo Samaco, 50, widower and chairman of Brgy. San Martin in Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur.
The reports said the shooting incident occured at around 5:34pm along a road in Brgy. New Maug, Prosperidad town.
Investigation revealed that Samaco was driving his Honda XRM motorcycle (8507) heading towards Brgy. Poblacion when the suspect suddenly shot him several times, reports said.
The reports said that the suspect then fled towards unknown direction using the motorcycle of the victim who died almost instantly in the attack due to seven gunshot wounds.
Recovered from the crime scene were two fired bullets and six empty shells of caliber .45 and are now under the custody of Provincial Crime Laboratory for proper disposition.
Remains of the victim now lies at St. Peter Funeral Home, Brgy Pisaan, San Francisco, Agusan del Sur while investigation is ongoing for possible identification and arrest of the suspect.
