HINIYA ni La Salle-Taft Chess Coach Fide Master Randy Segarra (ELO 2311) kontra si former olympian No.13 seed International Master Barlo Nadera (ELO 2392) sa third round ng Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Cup International Chess Championships sa Ninoy Aquino Stadium, Rizal Memorial Sports Complex sa Manila.

Sa pangyayaring ito ay nakisama siya sa five-way tie kasama ang apat pang chess players sa top tournament ranking Martes sa US$30,000 SMART-sponsored nine Round-Swiss tournament, hosted ng Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) sa gabay ni Chairman Ricardo Garcia na inorganisa ng National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP).

Nakataya sa FIDE event ang top prize US $6,000, na suportado din ng Puregold, Manila Pavilion Hotel, City State Tower Hotel at ni Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) President Peping Cojuangco.

Nakasama ni Segarra sa liderato na may tig 3.0 points sa three rounds of play ay sina No.6 GM Mark Paragua (ELO 2519), No.7 GM Darwin Laylo (ELO 2491), No.14 FM Haridas Pascua (ELO 2386) at No.15 FM Gombosuren Munkhgal ng Mongolia (ELO 2372).

Una munang tinalo ni No. 24 Segarra ay sina No.60 Silverio Abasolo at No.5 GM John Paul Gomez na tangan ang total performance rating 2771, nakatutok sa kanyang coveted International Master (IM) title.
