Lady solon asks Nazarene devotees to couple prayers with effort, hard work
ZAMBALES Rep. Mitos Magsaysay urged devotees of the Black Nazarene to follow the advice of the police and the organizers to ensure the safe celebration of the feast . She also asked devotees to couple their faith with hard work and effort to make the fulfillment of their prayers more possible.
“Every year, the authorities and the organizers of the event continue to remind the devotees to take care of their health, especially as the crush brought about the millions of devotees may cause injuries or suffocation. Constant reminders to take care of their belongings are also part of the yearly advise.”
Magsaysay said that while the celebration of the feast is one of the most popular events in the country as the devotees believe in miracles brought about by the Black Nazarene, it cannot be helped that some unscrupulous event goers only see it as an opportunity to prey on the devotees who sincerely attend the event because of their faith.
“It is sad that some attendees are only there to prey on the devotees and are not really there to share the faith of the attendees. I hope that devotees are mindful of their surroundings and do not give these characters the opportunity to victimize them.”
While the lady lawmaker said she appreciates the strong faith of the devotees, she reminded them however, that their prayers to the Nazarene should still be coupled by their own efforts to make the fulfillment of their wishes more possible.
“We have a saying: Nasa Diyos ang Awa, Nasa Tao ang Gawa, which means God helps those who help themselves. We should not just rely on prayer but also do something to make our dreams come true.”
