Lady solon calls for govt support for Algeria victims’ families
ZAMBALES Rep. Mitos Magsaysay lamented the death of six Filipinos in the hostage taking of a gas field in Algeria and called on the government to extend immediate aid to the families of the fatalities.
“It is saddening that our kababayans who are only in Algeria to work to support their families will be caught in the crossfire of armed conflicts such as these. My heart goes out for the families of the victims. I am sure that they are devastated by this tragedy,” she said.
Magsaysay said that on the part of the government, the DFA should exhaust all effort to speed up the return of the bodies and intensify their drive to find the four more Filipinos who are reportedly missing after the conclusion of the hostage taking situation initiated by Islamic militants.
“The DFA has to do its best to hurry up and find the missing Filipinos to ease their families’ worries. This is a very difficult time for them as it is.”
Magsaysay said that government agencies should also extend to the families counseling and emotional support, on top of financial aid that they will surely be needing with the death of their loved one.
