Man seriously wounds his father in law in Agusan del Sur
A drunken man was shot and seriously wounded by his son-in-law late Saturday afternoon after he tried to hack his daughter in a remote village in Agusan del Sur, police reports said on Monday.
Belated reports reaching the PNP central operations center in Camp Crame identified the victim as Pepito Bañas, 44 yrs old while the suspect was identified as his son-in-law, Wennie Celmar, 30.
The reports said that the shooting incident occurred at around 6:30pm Saturday at Purok 3 in Brgy. Del Monte, Talacogon, Agusan del Sur where both victim and suspects resides.
Investigation revealed that the victim, who is under the influence of liquor, boxed his wife, Regina Bañas, on the head and then went out of their house armed with a bolo, reports said.
Reports said the victim then proceeded to the house of his daughter, Sheryl Bañas Celmar and tried to hack her with a bolo, which prompted the suspect to shoot him using an air gun.
The victim was hit in the chest and was brought to the D.O. Plaza Memorial Hospital in Patin-ay, Prosperidad town and then to Butuan City Medical Hospital for medical treatment, reports said.
Reports said the suspect voluntarily went and surrendered to Talacogon Municipal Police and is now detained there while appropriate charges are being readied against him.
