PNP to penalized lax security agencies of SM Megamall
THE Philippine National Police (PNP) on Tuesday penalized two security agencies securing SM Megamall for their apparent failure to submit reports on the robbery incident that occurred inside the mall Saturday evening.
The PNP Supervisory Office for Security and Investigation Agency (SOSIA) has summoned the four security agencies that were contracted SM to secure the premises of SM Megamall in Mandaluyong City.
The four security agencies summoned by the police are the Lamdan, Blue Dragon, Link and Star Force to explain and submit their own reports relative to the mall robbery incident last Saturday. Star Force and Link failed to show up.
PNP SOSIA head, Chief Supt. Tomas Rentoy III said that personnel of these security agencies assigned at the mall could face suspension and retraining once found committed lapses leading to robbery incident.
“Based on our standard operating procedures (SOP) if there are major incident like this on a report must be submitted to us within 24 hrs after the incident, but they submitted their report late,” Rentoy told reporters in Camp Crame.
At least six robbers hit two jewelries stores inside the mall Saturday evening carted away unknown number of jewels and fired two shots in the air to cause panic and cover their escape.
“If we found out that the lapses committed were willful, we can impose sanctions… one month suspension on security guards and we can direct them to undergo retraining,” Rentoy explained.
The police official said that they are still conducting an investigation that mall security guards have failed to alert the police following the robbery incident inside one of the popular mall in the metropolis.
