Rebels burn logging truck in Agusan del Sur
NEW People’s Army (NPA) rebels burned a logging truck after its owners failed to pay revolutionary taxes in a remote village in Sibagat, Agusan del Sur, police reported on Wednesday.
Reports reaching the PNP national operations center in Camp Crame said the incident took place along the highway in Brgy. Kauswagan, Sibagat town of the said province.
The reports said that Remegio Gala, 54, a businessman was driving his Saddam truck (KFY-395) heading to Brgy. Poblacion when he was flagged down by nine fully armed men.
The victim was forced to disembark while the rebels poured gasoline into the vehicle’s hood and burned the truck, reports said.
Base on reports, the armed men is believed to be under Guerilla Front 21B of Northeastern Mindanao Regional Committee and immediately fled towards the mountainous area after the incident.
Reports said, the estimated cost of damage is P80,000 while investigation found out that the victim failed to pay Php 3,000 as revolutionary taxes to the NPA.
