Resist Aquino’s rising tyrannical tendencies – solon
ANAKPAWIS Partylist expressed support to online and offline actions against Republic Act 10175 or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012. The group called on the Supreme Court to declare R.A. 10175 for its ominous provisions that threaten certain inherent civil liberties.
“This repressive law is a direct threat and attack to the people’s freedom of speech, freedom of expression and a menace to the people’s right to information, right to privacy and right to due process,” said Anakpawis Rep. Rafael Mariano.
“The Aquino government can use R.A. 10175 to further suppress its critics, particularly workers, farmers and urban poor sectors who are using all means and media to air their criticisms and demands to the government,” Mariano said. “This law will further give undue advantage to private businesses and land owners to stifle legitimate grievances of marginalized sectors,” said the solon.
The Anakpawis legislator said that RA 10175 can be used by state forces to complement Oplan Bayanihan.
“We challenge the Supreme Court, especially Malacanang-appointed Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno to prove her worth and junk Aquino’s Cybercrime Law.”
“We also call on all citizens to remain vigilant. We must resist the Aquino government’s rising tyrannical tendencies,” Mariano concluded.
Anakpawis is one of the petitioners against the Cybercrime law under G.R. No. 203407 filed by Bagong Alyansang Makabayan et.al.
