Roxas tells cops to solve killing of Isabela town mayor
INTERIOR Secretary Manuel “Mar” Roxas II on Wednesday directed police investigators to explore all possible angles behind the killing of Maconacon Mayor Erlinda Domingo Tuesday night, January 22, in Quezon City.
Domingo was shot dead and her driver was wounded after they were attacked by at least six armed men Tuesday night while they were about to check-in at an apartelle in Examiner St., Quezon City.
The interior secretary reminded Metro Manila Police Chief, Director Leonardo Espina and Senior Supt. Ricahrd Albano, director of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) to dig deeper in the said incident.
“Mariin kong ipinapaala kina Director Espina at Senior Supt. Albano na alamin nila ang kabuuan nito at ang inaasahan ko ay isang komprehensibong imbestigasyon sa krimeng ito,” Roxas said.
The interior secretary said that this is the second time that an incumbent mayor of Maconacon town of Isabela was killed, the first was Mayor Francisco Talosig who was gunned down in 2009.
“Nakakapagtaka lang po na ang Maconacon – na sa loob nang tatlong taon ay dalawang mayor na ang binaril. Nais natin malaman kung isolated event ba ito o konektado,” Roxas said.
Investigation by the QCPD said that Domingo and her driver were unloading their baggage from their AUV when gunmen, on board two motorcycles, appeared and shot the two.
Pursuit operations by the police led to the arrest of three suspects namely Christian Pajenado; Michael Domingo, 28, and Mary Grace Malones-Abduhadi, 25, all are residents of Quezon City.
