Derrick, okey lang na i-build up bilang sex symbol

KAPUSO hunk actor Derrick Monasterio lauded Dubsmash Queen Maine Mendoza when she openly expressed what she really felt for her fans in one of her posts.

It could be recalled in her open letter, she thanked her avid fans for their love and support but called out some members of her fandom who, she said, dictate what “she should feel and should not feel”.

In her bid for freedom, she even admitted that she’s ready for the consequences of her action.

“Ang masasabi ko lang sa kanya: “Follow your heart, gawin lang niya kung ano ang magpapasaya sa kanya. At the end of the day, iyon ang nagma-matter. Iyong happiness ng tao,” he said.

He even clarified that he did not attempt to court Maine contrary to the reports.

“Aldub fan din ako pero never ko naman siyang pinormahan kasi bale respeto na rin sa love team nila ni Alden,” he explained.

On the alleged breakup of the phenomenal Aldub love team, he also expressed his disappointment.

“Siyempre, nalungkot din ako pero, naniniwala naman akong maaayos rin iyon kung anuman ang naging misunderstanding nila,” he said. “At saka, very professional naman silang dalawa. Feeling ko, nag-uusap naman silang dalawa,” he added.

He even dispelled the rumors that he and fellow Kapuso actor Ruru Madrid are not on speaking terms because he’s envious of him. (Ruru will first be given his major break ahead of Derrick in the GMA-7’s forthcoming TV series “Sherlock, Jr.”)

“Actually, walang ganoon. Ngayon ko lang narinig iyan at hindi ko alam kung saan nanggaling iyan,” he insisted.

He also said, that like Ruru, his mother network is not taking him for granted.

“Marami rin namang akong iba’t-ibang opportunities. Gumagawa ako ng movie with Barbie at may gagawin rin naman akong soap so walang point para magselos ako dahil may binibigay naman silang projects sa akin,” he declared.

To grow as an artist, he said that he continues to reinvent himself.

“Constantly, inirere-innovate ko ang sarili ko. Kahit anong role, okey lang basta magampanan ko nang maayos. Kahit anong dumating, kinu-consider ko siyang blessing at challenge also,” he said.

Derrick is reunited with Barbie Forteza in the movie “Almost A Love Story” which was shot in Salento, Italy.

“Last kaming nagkasama ni Barbie, sa Anna Karenina. So, nakaka-miss,” he recalled. “Feeling ko, mas kumportable na kami ngayon. Feeling ko, mas natural na iyong acting namin ngayon,” he added.

He also confessed that he tried to court Barbie in the past.

“Seryoso naman ako sa kanya pero baka at that time, akala niya hindi ako seryoso,” he pointed out.

After missing each other for quite some time, he believes that he has to work on their screen chemistry.

“Hindi pa namin ganoon kagagaling na mga artista na may chemistry agad. Gradually siya. It takes some time,” he asseverated.

He also said that he’s willing to go sexy but could not imagine it yet in a DerBie movie.

“Actually, hindi pa siguro rito. At saka, depende siya sa eksena. Pag kailangang-kailangan. Pag importante siya, bakit hindi?,” he said.

He is also open to the idea of being built up as a male sex symbol.

“Ok lang naman. Well, siguro iyong nakikita nila ay iyong sa physical,” he said. “Pero mas gusto ko siyempre na maa-appreciate nila iyong acting talent ko,” he added.

Derrick essays the role of Luigi, a painter in Louie Ignacio’s “Almost A Love Story”.

Aside from Barbie, the movie also stars Lotlot de Leon and Anna Capri.
