SOME 4, 986 Navotas families have started receiving P3, 000 each to complete the P8,000 Bayanihan 1 Social Amelioration Program (SAP) 2nd tranche due to them, Mayor Toby Tiangco said.

He’s gratified by the support of Sangguniang Panlunsod led by Vice Mayor Clint Geronimo for enacting an ordinance that authorized him to release funds from the city coffers to extend the financial aid to the concerned families.

“The beneficiaries will receive P3,000 each through the city’s SAP-LOLO Program (Saklolo Para sa mga Navoteñong Kulang ang Natanggap na 2nd Tranche SAP mula sa Department of Social Welfare and Development-National Capital Region (DSWD-NCR).”

The first payout was released to 3,105 beneficiaries who received their P5,000 cash aid in October last year under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation program.

The other 1,881 beneficiaries, who also had not received their second tranche yet, will also receive the same amount from the city government.

Rep. John Rey Tiangco, who will try to switch posts with his brother-mayor in the May 9 local polls, also thanked the city council members for their support that resulted in the immediate release of the funds for the residents.

“The city government just makes sure that our constituents especially those from the poor sector would not be left behind and are always our priority of our public services.”

The Tiangco brothers recalled that the DSWD was saying that the unpaid qualified beneficiaries of SAP second tranche and those who have received their initial payout in October 2021 were only allowed a maximum of P5,000 subsidy under AICS program.

“Our people have been waiting for almost two years now for the financial assistance.

“It is not their fault that the SAP distribution of the DSWD failed. They should not be the ones bearing the brunt of someone else’s blunder,” they said.
