AFP ops noong Pebrero nagresulta sa 123 neutralized terrorist

MANILA, Philippines- Iniulat ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) na na-neutralize nito ang kabuuang 123 local terrorists at insurgents at nasabat ang 136 iba’t ibang armas sa serye ng focused military at law enforcement operations sa iba’t ibang bahagi ng bansa nitong Pebrero.

“On operations against the local terrorist groups (LTG), four LTG members were killed, and 41 either surrendered or were apprehended. In addition, the AFP gained 42 firearms and four anti-personnel mines and discovered ten encampments,” pahayag ni AFP public affairs office chief Col. Jorry Baclor nitong Linggo.

Sa Patikul, Sulu, napatay ang isang miyembro ng Abu Sayyaf sa engkwentro sa 111th Division Reconnaissance Company at 32nd Infantry Battalion noong Feb. 20. Narekober ng tropa ang isang M-14 rifle sa clearing operation.

Gayundin, tatlong Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) members ang napatay, kabilang ang isang field commander ng BIFF-Karialan faction, kasunod ng sagupaan sa pwersa ng pamahalaan sa Tacurong City, Sultan Kudarat noong Feb. 18.

Sumuko naman noong Feb. 21 ang 29 BIFF members sa pagsisikap ng 1st Brigade Combat Team na nakabase sa Sultan Kudarat.

Isinuko rin nila ang iba’t ibang armas at mga bala.

Samantala, sinabi ng AFP na na-neutralize nito ang 78 New People’s Army (NPA) members sa parehong buwan– 16 ang napatay habang 62 ang sumuko.

Narekober ng tropa ang 94 armas.

“On February 24, one CNT (Communist NPA Terrorist) surrendered to the 5th Special Forces Battalion in Palimbang, Sultan Kudarat yielding a Winchester M-1 Garand and one improvised M-79 grenade launcher. On February 26, an NPA officer using the alias ‘Danay’ and his follower ‘Hardan’ surrendered with one homemade shotgun to the Army’s 68th Infantry Battalion in San Jose, Occidental Mindoro,” paglalahad ni Baclor.

Nadiskubre at nasabat rin ng AFP units ang 27 anti-personnel mines (APMs) sa parehong period,kung saan pinakabago ang walong APMs ng 49th Infantry Battalion sa Oas, Albay noong Feb. 25.

“The CTGs and LTGs continue to suffer huge losses as the AFP intensifies its intelligence-driven focused military operation complemented by various community support initiatives that address the root causes of insurgency and violent extremism,” sabi ni Baclor.

Inanunsyo rin ng Philippine Army (PA) na natapos na ng 7th Infantry Division at 5th Security Force Assistance Brigade (5SFAB), United States Army ang Philippines-United States Warfighting Functions Exchange 2023-1 (WFE 23-1) noong March 3.

Sinabi ni PA spokesperson Col. Xerxes Trinidad na sa two-week training sa Fort Magsaysay, Nueva Ecija sinanay ang dalawang pwersa sa warfighting functions domain na tumututok sa air assault operations, troop leading procedure, group organization, defensive operations, at engagement area development.

Nilahukan ito ng mga miyembro ng 71st Division Reconnaissance Company; Alpha Company, 99th Infantry Battalion; 1st Brigade Combat Team; at Alpha Company, 103rd Infantry Battalion, 5th Infantry Division.

Idinagdag niya na nagsilbi rin ang aktibidad na Sustained Warfighting Enhancement and Evaluation Program (SWEEP) ng participating units at bilang gated training para sa darating na PH-US combined exercises– Salaknib-23 at Balikatan 28-23. RNT/SA
