ASEAN Para Games athletes, papupurihan sa Senado

MANILA, Philippines- Naghain ng isang resolusyon si Senador Jinggoy Estrada na naglalayong papurihan ang lahat ng Filipino para-athletes na nagtagumpay sa siyame na iba’t ibang sports sa naganap na 11th ASEAN Para Games (APG).

Layunin ng Senate Resolution No. 110 na papurihan ang mga atleta na nagwagi ng medalya sa kani-kanilang sports.

Isang delegasyon ng 144 atleta ang ipinadala ng bansa upang lumahok sa Solo, Indonesia mula July 26 hanggang Aug. 7. Umabot sa 80 atleta ang nakasungkit ng 104 medalya sa mga sumusunod na sports: archery, athletics, badminton, basketball, chess, judo, powerlifting, swimming, and table tennis.

Sa 104 medals, 28 ay ginto, 30 silver, at 46 bronze. Ipinanuwesto ng Pinoy athletes ang Pilipinas sa ika-5 place sa overall finish mula sa 11 lumahok na bansa.

“The perseverance, discipline, commitment to excellence, and sportsmanship they have shown during the regional meet and throughout the period of their preparation and training are exemplary values and attributes that the younger generation and all Filipinos could emulate,” ayon kay Estrada sa kanyang resolution.

“Their remarkable accomplishments and success in the international sports stage brought honor and pride to the nation, hence deserving of commendation and recognition from the Senate,” patuloy ng resolusyon.

“For a triumphant campaign and for delivering the country’s best performance in the biennial regional games, these athletes deserve a commendation from the Senate. We have every reason to be proud of them,” patapos ni Estrada. Ernie Reyes
