Barbers naalarma; 25 LGU officials, napaslang mula 2016 ‘gang 2022

MANILA, Philippines- Nagpahayag ng pagkabahala si Surigao del Norte Rep. Robert Ace Barbers sa pagtaas ng kaso ng mga napapaslang na Local Government Units(LGUS) officials kung saan ang ilan sa mga kaso ng pagpatay ay hindi naresolba.

Ayon kay Barbers, simula 2016 hanggang 2022 ay nasa 25 LGU executives ang napaslang at karamihan sa mga ito ay mga alkalde.

“The recent acts of violence–that resulted to the loss of Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo and Aparri Cagayan Vice Mayor Rommel Alameda, and the wounding of Lanao del Sur Governor Mamintal Adiong Jr. and Datu Montawal Maguindanao del Sur Mayor Ohto Montawal–are deeply saddening,” pahayag ni Barbers.

“While it is painful to bear this recent surge of violence, we should not forget all other public officials who became victims of violence while holding office in the past,” dagdag pa niya.

“All these incidents are not only a tragic reflection of political violence, but they are also unacceptable in our decent and God-fearing society. They do not only rob our country of dedicated public servants, but they also undermine the stability and security of our society,” pahayag ni Barbers.

Inatasan ni Barbers ang Philippine National Police na tutukan ang mga kaso ng pagpapatay sa LGU officials at tiyakin mapapanagot sa batas ang nasa likid nito.
