Bayad na quarantine leave, target ng DOLE

MANILA, Philippines – Hinihikayat ng Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) ang mga employer ng pribadong sektor na gumawa ng paid isolation and quarantine leave program para sa mga empleyadong nasapul ng COVID-19.

Sa ipinalabas na Labor Advisory No. 1 ni Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III, inihihirit niya sa mga employer na payagan ang mga empelyadong kinokonsiderang close contact, suspect, probable, o kumpirmadong COVID patient na kumpletuhin ang home isolation o facility-based quarantine.

“Employees falling under the case definition of close contact, suspect, probable, or confirmed case shall complete the home-based or facility-based quarantine or isolation period in accordance with the prevailing Department of Health (DOH) Department Memorandum No. 2022- 0013 (Updated Guidelines on Quarantine, lsolation, and Testing for Covid-19 Response and Case Management for the Omicron Variant), DOH Department Circular No. 2022-0002 (Advisory on Covid-19 Protocols for Quarantine and lsolation), and the DOLE and DTI Joint Memorandum Circular No. 20-M-A (Supplemental Guidelines on Workplace Prevention and Control of Covid-19),” saad sa abiso.

Giit ni Bello na ang nasabing paid isolation o quarantine leave para sa empleyado ay hiwalay pa sa regular na leave benefits.

“Employers are urged, in consultation with the employees or employees’ representative if any, to adopt and implement an appropriate paid isolation and quarantine leave program on top of existing leave benefits under the company policy, Collective Bargaining Agreement, the Labor Code of the Philippines, and special laws. The paid isolation and quarantine leaves shall be without prejudice to other benefits provided by the Social Security System and the Employees Compensation Commission,” ayon pa sa DOLE chief.

Sa ilalim ng paid isolation at quarantine leave benefit, lahat ng kwalipikadong empleyado ay sasailalim sa isolation at quarantine nang ilang araw, at hindi pa naidadala sa ospital, pero naubos na ang  company-offered leave benefits ay dapat na makatanggap ng buo nitong sahod kahit nasa isolation.

Sa kabilang banda, ang mga empleyadong nagka-COVID ay maaaring makatanggap ng kumpensasyon pero hindi kabilang ang mga inilagay sa isolation at quaran

Sa ilalim ng employees compensation benefits program ng Employees Compensation Commission (ECC), ang mga empleyadong nagbabayad ng Social Security System na naospital sa COVID ay mababayaran sa bilang ng araw na siya ay naospital, kabilang na ang presyo ng gamot, bayad sa duktor, at halaga ng rehibilitasyon.
