MANILA, Philippines- Walong coastal areas sa bansa ang nagpositibo sa paralytic shellfish poison (PSP) o toxic red tide na lampas sa regulatory limit, ayon sa Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR).

Sa shellfish bulletin na may petsang January 16, 2023, inihayag ng BFAR na hindi ligtas kainin ang lahat ng uri ng shellfish at acetes, kilala rin bilang alamang, na nakolekta mula sa mga sumusunod na lugar:

  • coastal waters ng Milagros, Masbate;

  • coastal waters ng Panay, Capiz;

  • coastal waters ng President Roxas, Capiz;

  • coastal waters ng Pilar, Capiz;

  • coastal waters ng Dauis, Bohol;

  • coastal waters ng Tagbilaran City, Bohol;

  • Dumanquillas Bay sa Zamboanga del Sur; at

  • Lianga Bay sa Surigao del Sur

“Fish, squids, shrimps, and crabs are safe for human consumption provided that they are fresh and washed thoroughly; and internal organs such as gills and intestines are removed before cooking,” ayon pa sa BFAR.
