Brawner ganap nang umupo bilang Army Chief

MANILA, Philippines- Ganap nang umupo si Major General Romeo Brawner Jr. bilang bagong chief ng Philippine Army, nitong Biyernes.                    

Si Brawner, dating commander ng 4th Infantry Division, ang pumalit kay Lieutenant General Andres Centino, na na-promote bilang chief of staff ng Armed Forces of the Philippines.

Sa kanyang acceptance speech, sinabi ni Brawner na itutuon niya ang kanyang pansin sa health, morale, welfare, at skills development ng 100,000-strong Army troops.

“It is imperative that we pursue these thrusts so that we will be able to accomplish the mission that was ordered by no less than the commander-in-chief which is to end the local communist armed conflict by the end of his term,” aniya sa change of command ceremony na pinangasiwaan ni Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana sa Army headquarters sa Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.

“These thrusts, once achieved, will allow our Army units to perform another important task, that is to help the Commission on Elections ensure that next year’s national elections is credible, orderly, and peaceful,” dagdag niya.

Nanguna ang bagong Army chief sa 4ID sa pag-neutralize sa high-ranking communist rebels sa Northern Mindanao at Caraga regions.

Nagsilbi rin siyang commanding officer ng 2nd Special Forces Battalion, chief of staff ng 6th Infantry Division, spokesman ng Philippine Army, AFP, at regiment commander ng Civil-Military Operations Regiment.

Si Brawner ay naging deputy commander din ng Task Group Ranao at spokesperson ng Task Force Marawi sa kasagsagan ng Marawi siege noong 2017. Siya rin ang brigade commander ng 103rd Infantry Brigade sa Marawi.

Nanungkulan din siya bilang commandant of cadets sa Philippine Military Academy (PMA).

Si Brawner was the ang unang deputy chief of staff for financial management o J10.

Nagtapos ang 65th Army commanding general mula sa PMA parte ng “Makatao” Class of 1989, kung saan siya ang salutatorian at “baron” o regiment commander ng cadet corps. RNT/SA
