BuCor, CHR maglalagay ng human rights officer sa mga preso

MANILA, Philippines – Maglalagay ang Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) at Commission on Human Rights ng kani-kanilang human rights officers sa lahat ng mga pasilidad upang matutukan ang kondisyon ng mga persons deprived of liberty (PDL).

Sa isang seremonya nitong Biyernes, Disyembre 9, pumirma sa kasunduan ang BuCor at CHR sa pagtutulungan ng mga ito sa programa, polisiya at pagsasanay sa human rights standards ng naturang ahensya.

Sa ilalim ng memorandum of agreement, nagkasundo ang BuCor at CHR sa mga sumusunod na panuntunan:

– Designate at least one Human Rights Officer in every security compound of each BuCor prison facility

– Develop and implement a special training course for the HROs and other officers and personnel of BuCor to substantially orient/re-orient them of human rights norms, standards, and principles, as well as on the role of BuCor in the prevention of violations and protection of the rights of the PDL

– Review BuCor’s existing policies, programs, measures, and correctional practices to ensure that they are consistent with human rights norms, standards, and principles
