Dominguez walang pakialam sa Bloomberg, Nikkei COVID-19 response rankings

Manila, Philippines – Walang pakialam si Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez III sa mga iskor na ibinibigay ng business publications na Bloomberg at Nikkei Asia sa tugon at pagbangon ng Pilipinas sa COVID-19 crisis.

Naunang iniulat ng Bloomberg na nananatili ang Pilipinas sa ‘worst place’ sa gitna ng pandemya kung saan kulelat ito sa 53 bansa na may resilience score na 43.1.

Habang sa Nikkei Asia, nasa pang-57 ang Pilipinas sa COVID-19 recovery ranking dahil sa “significant increase in its infection management scores.”

 “I do not pay attention to this scoring [scheme],” saad ni Dominguez.

“First of all, we are not in a horse race. Secondly, I do not know how they come up with those scores… I just don’t pay attention to it. It does not bother me.”

“How come they do not score us on this issue? Our deaths per 100,000 people are only 45. Only 45 people per 100,000 died because of COVID-19,” dagdag pa nito.

“In Hungary, it is about 350. In the US, it’s about 250 people per 100,000. How come they don’t score us with that? What does that mean? We have preserved lives better than them.” RNT/FGDC
