Duque: Wala pang naitatalang adverse event sa COVID-19 booster shot rollout

MANILA, Philippines – Iniulat ni Health Secretary Francisco Duque III na hanggang ngayon ay wala pang naiuulat na adverse events sa COVID-19 booster vaccination sa bansa.

Matatandaang nagsimula ang pagtuturok ng COVID vaccine booster shot sa mga health workers noong Nobyembre 17, habang sumunod namang nabigyan ang mga matatanda at indibidwal na immunocompromised nitong Nobyembre 22.

“No serious adverse event following the immunization. These are the usual localized pain or the usual slight fever and I think you’re all familiar with that, you have experienced it yourselves (if you’ve been vaccinated),” ani Duque kasabay ng pagtanggap sa 700,000 doses ng AstraZeneca vaccine na donasyon ng Australian government sa Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3, Miyerkoles.

Sa kabila nito, muling iginiit ni Duque na prayoridad pa rin ng gobyerno na makapagbakuna sa mga hindi pa natuturukan kaysa magbigay ng booster shots.

“Our policy continues that we would much rather provide the primary series, the first dose, to the unvaccinated more than the booster because you know, science says it that the protection that the population gets by inoculating everyone rather than doing boosting is going to be much higher and a much more sound policy,” anang kalihim.

Pinaalalahanan din ni Duque ang publiko na huwag pakampante at tuloy ang pag-iwas sa 3Cs – closed spaces, crowded areas, at closed contact settings.

“If you cannot help it, then wear your face shields. [They] are still very, very important, it’s an additional layer of protection and it will be good for our people,” aniya. RNT
