Eksperto sa publiko: Pagpapabakuna sagot vs virus mutations

MANILA, Philippines- Dapat magpabakuna ng publiko sa kabila ng mga inisyal na pag-aaral na tinatamaan pa rin ng Omicron variant ng coronavirus disease (COVID-19) ang taong nabakunahan na, ayon sa infections disease expert nitong Huwebes.

“This is where people that are not vaccinated, who are immunocompromised, they will be the reservoir of these viruses. Chances are they will be the one source of this infection and at the same time, they can also be at high risk of getting the more severe infection,” dagdag niya.

Iginiit pa ni Solante, na miyembro rin ng vaccine expert panel na epektibo ang mga bakuna.

“That’s the importance why we need to vaccinate everyone, especially for those unvaccinated because mutation will only occur among those that are unvaccinated, among those that are immunocompromised. So we need protection for these populations so that there will be less mutation and less transmission of this COVID virus,” aniya.

Binigyang-diin din niya na ang pag-protekta sa mas malaking bahagi ng populasyon ay nangangahulugan ng mas mababang bilang ng mga isinusugod sa ospital at mas mababang intensive care unit utilization.

Batay sa preliminary evidence na ibinahagi ng World Health Organization, mas nakahahawa ang Omicron at maaaring makailag sa ilang antibodies. RNT/SA
