MANILA, Philippines – Lusot na sa huli at ikatlong pagbasa sa House of Representatives ang panukalang pagbibigay ng emergency passports at iba pang travel documents sa ilalim ng ilang pagkakataon.

Nasa 252 ang bumoto pabor sa House Bill 6510, sa ilalim ng panukala ay maaaring bigyan ng emergency passport ang isang Filipino citizen kung hinihingi ng pagkakataon.

“Emergency travel document issued to a Filipino citizen who needs to travel urgently but who has lost a valid passport, or whose passport has expired or is expiring and cannot be issued a regular passport or who has not been issued a regular passport and who for one reason or another cannot be issued a regular passport;travel document certificate for Filipinos to be repatriated, alien spouse of a Filipino and their dependents who are yet to be naturalized, and aliens permanently residing in the Philippines; and convention travel documents for stateless persons, refugees or persons applying for asylum in the Philippines,” nakasaad sa panukala.

Maari din na bigyan ng diplomatic passports ang Secretary ng Senado at Secretary-General ng House of Representatives.

Nakapaloob din sa House Bill 6510 na magpapatupad ang DFA ng sistema kung saan ang mga senior citizens ay papayagan na magrenew ng passport nang hindi na nangangailangan ng personal appearance gayundin ang pagbibigay ng 50% discount sa bayarin para sa processing, issuance o replacement ng passport.

Sa oras na maisabatas, sinumang lalabag ay maaaring patawan ng 6 na taong pagkakakulong at multa na P2 milyon. Gail Mendoza
