Manila, Philippines – Iginiit ni National Security Adviser Hermogenes Esperon Jr., na biktima si Jevilyn Campos Cullamat na anak ni Bayan Muna lawmaker Eufemia Cullamat na biktima ng pagmamanipula ng New People’s Army.

“Jevilyn was not a martyr. She was deceived into sacrificing her life for a cause lacking legitimacy and noble purpose,” ani Esperon.

“She was a victim of a manipulative organization that has taken advantage of her from the moment she was radicalized until her recruitment into the armed struggle,” dagdag nito.

“More importantly, no elected official paid for by the Republic, should proudly declare their support for an armed rebellion that violates international laws on the recruitment of child combatants, indigenous people’s rights, violence against women, and the disregard for human life,” giit ni Esperon.

“It pains me that even in her daughter’s death, Representative Cullamat cannot show remorse, and has gone so far as extolling the false advocacy and political agenda of the armed revolution,” dagdag pa nito.

“We call on sympathizers of the NPA to ponder on their support for the movement that has claimed the lives of thousands of Filipinos. The ‘revolutionary armed struggle’ is an ideology that history has rejected because of its self-destructive nature,” aniya.

“There is a peaceful way to bring sustainable development and social justice to the countryside. This is what the government aspires for everyone to benefit from,” ani Esperon. RNT/ELM
