Higit 300 PDL nakibahagi sa voter registration sa Manila City Jail

MANILA, Philippines- Mahigit 300 persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) sa Manila City Jail ang nakibahagi sa voter registration na isinagawa ng Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) nitong Sabado ng umaga.

Ikinasa ang voter registration sa Manila City Jail’s male dormitory para sa barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections (BSKE).

“It is our duty, as a government agency, to ensure that all citizens, regardless of their circumstances, have a voice in the democratic process,” pahayag ni BJMP chief Jail Director Allan Iral.

“Our personnel in the BJMP are working diligently to ensure that PDL in our care are able to exercise their right to vote during the December polls,” dagdag niya.

May kabuuang 66,244 PDLs ang nagpatala bilang botante hanggang niotng Sabado, 27,741 dito ang newly-registered voters. 

Sinabi ng BJMP na ang jail population ay 126,680 sa lahat ng 478 jail facilities sa buong bansa.

“We encourage all PDL to register and make their voices heard on election day,” patuloy ni Iral.

Nagsimula ang voter registration para sa BSKE noong December 12, 2022 at matatapos sa January 31, 2023. RNT/SA
