Kamara, Comelec sanib-pwersa sa Register Anywhere Project

MANILA, Philippines- Isang memorandum of agreement ang nilagdaan kahapon sa pagitan ng House of Representatives at Commission on Elections (Comelec) para sa Register Anywhere project.

Nanguna sa MOA signing sina Speaker Martin Romualdez at Comelec chairperson George Garcia gayundin ang iba pang opisyal na kinabibilangan nina Comelec Commissioner Marlon Casquejo at House suffrage and electoral reforms chairperson Maximo Dalog Jr.

Sa kanyang speech ay inanyayahan ni Romualdez ang lahat ng kawani ng Kamara at ng buong mga pamilya nito na makiisa sa proyekto.

“Our involvement in this laudable project is our modest contribution to the efforts of the Comelec to register as many voters as possible. We encourage our House members, personnel, and their dependents and relatives, as well as those of attached agencies, and our people in general to take advantage of this offsite or satellite listing project so they could exercise their right of suffrage in future elections,” pahayag ni Romualdez.

Ang Register Anywhere project ay bukas sa lahat ng House members, employees, congressional staff at maging mga personnel ng mga attached agencies, bukas ito simula Enero 25 hangang 27, mula alas-8 ng umaga hanggang alas-5 ng hapon sa North Wing Lobby ng Batasan complex.

Ang mga kabataan na mag-eedad 15 anyos pagsapit ng October 30, 2023 ay maaaring magparehistro para sa susunud na barangay at sangguniang kabataan polls.

Sa panig ni Garcia sinabi nito na ang Register Anywhere ay matagal na nilang ginagawa sa ibang bansa kaya naman kanila na din itong ginawa sa bansa.

“We have been doing this Register Anywhere abroad [for Overseas Absentee Voting]. If we can do it abroad, why can’t we do it here, too? If we become so successful with this, our contention is to conduct Register Anywhere nationwide, in all regions,” pagtatapos pa ni Garcia. Gail Mendoza
