“The end justifies the means.” – Niccolo Machiavelli

They say desperate times call for desperate measures.

So is this the reason why Leni Robredo’s handlers are resorting to lies and deceptions in an effort to muster enough propaganda mileage as the May 9, 2022 elections slowly creep towards the homestretch?

Armed with massive political machinery and aided by traditional media entities with vested interests lurking under the guise of nationalism, Robredo’s propaganda machine have flooded every possible venues available — social media, traditional media groups, and radio and TV networks — with their      biased and prejudiced brand of delivering their version of twisted facts.

Well, this is politics and it is election time. All is fair in love and in war, so they say.

However, what is alarming is the proliferation of reports that the “Pinklawans,” in their desperation, have now “entered into an agreement with the Communist Party of the Philippines-New Peoples Army (CPP-NPA) of a possible coalition government if they win just to thwart an impending BBM victory.”

Sen. Panfilo “Ping” Lacson has maintained that his own intelligence sources have validated the information that members of CPP legal fronts were at Robredo’s Cavite rally.

And although Robredo’s camp vehemently denied this, he said it is natural for the CPP and its legal fronts to discredit ex-NPA cadre Jeffrey “Ka Eric” Celiz.

“This is worrisome. A coalition government with the CPP-NPA-NDF will set back the gains of the government’s efforts to end the country’s decades-old insurgency problem,” Lacson tweeted on Sunday.

Cavite Rep. Jesus “Boying” Remulla said that those who attended the rally “looked” like student activists and “the attendees were paid P500 each.”

In a statement, Lacson’s political party said his comments came from the perspective of a former intelligence officer “with keen awareness of how left-leaning organizations are using the elections as an opportunity to infiltrate various political groups and promote their communist agenda.”

“Senator Lacson understands the value of fact-checking and has long been waging a war against fake news throughout his political career, and so he would never say something without verifying it first from other reliable sources,” the Partido para sa Demokratikong Reporma said.

If this issue has a semblance of truth, then it can be deduced that this is no longer about trying to block BBM’s impending win but a despondent attempt to gain political power at all cost.

Had this been another cheap propaganda gimmick aimed at Marcos, you would not expect Lacson to pounce on it because in his own words, “he is too busy with his own campaign.”

What is alarming too is that the so-called “holy, mighty, and infallible” fact checkers are just busy scrutinizing Robredo’s opponents, Marcos in particular, and looking the other way when she is creating booboos.

But since this is an issue that has national security implications, then I believe it is incumbent upon the intelligence community to validate it and act accordingly.
