Maharlika fund, sa local investments muna – Concepcion

MANILA, Philippines – Sinabi ni former Palace adviser at Go Negosyo founder Joey Concepcion na unahin munang i-invest sa mga local big-ticket projects ang proposed sovereign wealth fund.

“Let’s focus it first here,” sinabi ni Concepcion sa panayam ng ANC.

“It doesn’t mean that we limit it to that. Down the road, as the fund performs and there’s greater confidence on the public on the fund, then it can invest abroad,” dagdag niya.

Idiniin din ni Concepcion na ang conglomerates na papasukin para sa investment ay dapat na may subok na track record sa paghawak ng malalaking proyekto.

Aniya, ang bansa ay handa na sa pagkakaroon ng sariling sovereign wealth fund, o tinawag na Maharlika Investment Fund.

“I think it’s worth [it] for the Philippines. I think the Philippines is ready,” giit nito.

Matatandaang nakatanggap ng samu’t saring reaksyon ang panukalang ito matapos na sa unang bersyon ay kukuha ng pondo mula sa dalawang government insurance corporation na Social Security System at Government Service Insurance System para sa P275 bilyon na initial capital, kalaunan ay natapyasan ito at naging P110 bilyon na lamang matapos alisin ang dalawa.

Sa bagong bersyon din ay papalitan na si Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. bilang pinuno ng governing board ng planong MIF Corporation, at ilalagay ang kalihim ng Department of Finance.

“I’m glad that they scaled the amount down to about P100 plus billion. That’s a good step. There’s a greater clarity in the structure of the board and the advisory,” sinabi pa ni Concepcion.

“Focus on the Philippines first. You do well and start to expand overseas.” RNT/JGC
